QNB introduces innovative Visa prepaid cards to celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2022

Since the global pandemic hit the Middle East and Africa region, many financial institutions operating in this region faced operational challenges. It also restricted their growth to some extent. Therefore, financial companies are targeting large events to promote their brand and gain market share. In December 2021, one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa, QNB, has launched a special edition Visa prepaid card with a unique design to celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022. The features of this unique card include:

  • The prepaid card will be available to the residents of Qatar and to be used in stores in the country and Visa-enabled networks around the globe. Moreover, the users will make transactions using contactless payments and e-commerce purchase options.
  • Cardholders can enable transaction notifications and check balances digitally to monitor their everyday expenditure. This is possible because the QNB Visa prepaid card has a 3D secure authentication protocol and chip & PIN encryption technology in it.
  • Since this is a prepaid card, it can be used up to the amount of money loaded on the card. These cards can be easily be reloaded through QNB Internet or mobile banking or directly at the branch and ATMs.
  • The prepaid card's added benefits include the users having access to 24/7 balance inquiry, customer call center support and card fraud monitoring.


The global payments provider, Visa, has partnered with QNB as the Official Payment Service Partner of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Through this partnership, football fans from Qatar and the rest of the world will access the digital economy and all its benefits via the QNB special edition card.


Most importantly, QNB is the first bank in Qatar to bring this special edition prepaid card. Also, being the Official Middle East and Africa Supporter of the FIFA World Cup 2022, the bank launched this innovative prepaid card to attract existing as well as new customers, thus increasing its customer base globally. The bank has witnessed a surge in the growth of its prepaid cards over the years and has always brought innovative prepaid cards to meet customers' financial needs. For instance, in December 2018, QNB launched a limited-edition prepaid card to honor Qatar National Day (QND).
